Finding true healing through temple worship
Hi Friend—
We know that temple worship is healing, we feel it! But after listening to Wendy Ulrich on the Magnify podcast, we asked ourselves, are we really tapping into the marvelous gift of healing the temple can bring? It’s been a conversation starter.
How do we find true healing through temple worship?
Wendy taught one way to begin—recognizing that we don’t need to have "gaping wounds" to seek healing. Temple worship can heal all the hurts us. When we attend the temple, we don’t have to expect “some huge insight into our psyche," she says.
Maybe we’re scarred by negative self-talk; maybe someone hurt our feelings; maybe we’re feeling heart heavy by what we see going on in the world when we turn on the tv. Through temple worship, Wendy shares, "we’re going to find that peace. We’re going to be re-grounded and re-centered in the calm, curious, compassionate part of ourselves.”
As we seek that peace, we'll also feel more of God's love. And when we know His love for ourselves, we can more freely love others, seeing them as God would.
In her book, The Temple Experience, Wendy writes, “As we receive (let in, acknowledge, value, trust, appreciate) the love and spiritual nourishment Christ offers us directly and through others, we can then reach out our hands, filled by him, to bless others.”
If you haven't already, listen to the Magnify podcast to hear more from Wendy on this powerful topic. Let’s keep this conversation going!
A few conversation starters:
How do you find true healing through temple worship?
How do we recognize and seek healing for the smaller wounds we experience?
What are ways you have understood that temple worship has helped heal you?
“A friend of mine prays regularly for eyes to see the evidence that she is loved. Such a prayer acknowledges that we control our willingness to receive. We can open the door to God's comforting presence, even if tonight he comes without the other gifts we desire. We can ask God to help us ask for what we need, tolerate disappointment, trust that goodness is out there somewhere, and open our hands and hearts to receive.
How well do you seek, see, and receive the evidence that you are loved?”
