Want to connect deeper to your covenants?

Hi Friends!

There has been a major focus on covenants lately, have you noticed too? Covenants have always been an extremely vital part of our faith, but I think we have all felt the pull to learn more as we work to make them, keep them, and access their power in our everyday lives.

Covenants can be defined in many different ways, and our definition tends to evolve as our understanding increases. The simplicity and truth of covenants remain constant, but our relationship with them might go from feeling burdened or restricted to seeing the love, potential, and power as we grow.

President Nelson has articulated countless promises around covenant keeping—

“Cherish and honor your covenants above all other commitments. As you let God prevail in your life, I promise you greater peace, confidence, joy, and yes, rest.”

Honestly, what more could we want!? As we practice trusting in the counsel of our Prophet, and in the promises of the Lord, we can get more comfortable honoring and prioritizing our covenants even when it feels scary, unpopular, or uncomfortable.

To help us on the path to prioritizing our covenants, here are some bold promises that were shared with us in the most recent General Conference from Elder Dale G. Renlund.

Feel Better in 5! The power and promises of covenants!

1.     Increased clarity, direction, and understanding.

“By making and keeping temple covenants, we learn more about the Lord’s purposes and receive a fulness of the Holy Ghost. We receive direction for our lives.” -Dale G. Renlund

2.     Personal progression and spiritual maturity.

  • [Making and keep covenants helps us ]… mature in our discipleship so that we do not remain perpetual, unknowing children. Dale G. Renlund

3.     Increased capacity to handle life.

  • [Through covenants] …we receive increased capacity to fulfill our purposes in mortality. Dale G. Renlund

4.     Comfort and unwavering peace in times of trial and heartbreak.

  • [Covenants] provide us with strength to withstand mortality’s trials and heartaches. The doctrine associated with these covenants eases our way and provides hope, comfort, and peace. Dale G. Renlund

5.     Courage to live differently.

  • By connecting to God’s power, we are able to go against the flow of the world, throughout our lives and into the eternities. Ultimately, our destinies are changed because the covenant path leads to exaltation and eternal life. -Dale G. Renlund

We can do this! While prioritizing our covenants takes effort, the payoff is bigger than we can even imagine. We can also find strength in remembering that the power of covenants is unique and can’t be found through other paths.

“I promise that increased time in the temple will bless your life in ways nothing else can.” President Nelson
