How to lift the people we love
Hi Friends!
Fall is flying by! How are we already staring at the end-of-year hustle!? Here at Magnify we have been loving spending time absorbing the general conference messages into our systems over the last few weeks. Really there’s nothing that could prepare us better to head into this time of year with our priorities where we want them.
Life is busy, and the next few months tend to be next level. What if we take a minute right now to take a breath and really get intentional about how we want things to look through the end of the year. Sure, a lot of it is not within our control, but taking pause to be intentional about where we want to put our focus and energy really does help!
How do we want to feel? How do we want to make others feel? How do we want our homes to feel? What efforts do we want to prioritize?
This time of year can be really challenging for a lot of people in a lot of different ways—maybe you feel that too? One focus that is always worth prioritizing is loving and encouraging others. It’s one of the best ways we can follow Christ’s example!
In her most recent address Tamara Runia said, “Let’s admit, in a fallen world there’s no way to be a perfect spouse, parent, son or daughter, grandchild, mentor, or friend—but a million ways to be a good one. Let’s stay at the tree, partake of the love of God, and share it. By lifting the people around us, we ascend together.”
Our efforts don’t have to be perfect, but by prioritizing the people around us we can really shift the season from chaos to caring! Let’s do things differently this holiday season! Here are some things that will help!
Feel Better in 5! How to lift the people we love!
How does God see them?
We tend to be most critical of those we love the most! Ask for help to see people how God sees them. It can really shift the perspective! And while you’re at it—ask Him how He sees YOU too.
Root for them!
“…everybody needs a cheerleader—someone who isn’t telling you, “You’re not running fast enough”; they’re lovingly reminding you that you can. -Tamara Runia
Believe in them.
The advice to manage expectations to avoid disappointment can be helpful, but when it comes to people let’s believe in them instead! Give others the chance to rise to the occasion and take accountability to deal with our own disappointment if they fall short. People can’t succeed if we don’t give them the chance and the faith!
Let Christ carry it.
“It’s the Savior’s work to bring our loved ones back. It’s His work and His timing. It is our work to provide the hope and a heart they can come home to.” -Tamara Runia
Build YOUR confidence.
The things we criticize most in others are usually the things we ourselves have insecurities around. By working on our own progress and growth we actually increase our capacity to love and lift others!
Let’s kick off the holiday hustle together! With our priorities where we want them!
